How to Follow Up Future Sellers.

Future sellers need relevant, well-timed contact. The CRM should help you stay visible without overdoing it.

Future sellers are often some of the most valuable contacts in a CRM.

They may not be ready today, but their plans can change quickly.

Record the timing.

Try to understand when they may be thinking of selling.

For example:

  • Within three months

  • Later this year

  • After a renovation

  • After buying elsewhere

  • After a family or work change

  • Unsure, but considering it

Record the timing and set the next follow-up.

Give them a reason to hear from you.

Useful contact might include:

  • A relevant local sale

  • An updated appraisal

  • Buyer activity in their area

  • Changes in local stock

  • Advice on preparing the property

  • A market update

The contact should feel useful, not routine.

Adjust the frequency.

Someone planning to sell in three months may need regular contact.

Someone who says “maybe next year” probably does not.

Match the follow-up to the likely timing.

Update the CRM when plans change.

After each conversation, record:

  • Current timing

  • Any change in plans

  • Important concerns

  • What happens next

  • Next follow-up date

Do not lose the long-term opportunities.

Some future sellers may sit in the CRM for years before they are ready.

That does not make them poor opportunities.

It simply means the relationship needs to be managed over a longer period.

Good follow-up keeps you connected without making the contact feel pressured.
